However, over the last few years, Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has undergone a dramatic transformation.
In fact its metamorphosis, from an ugly caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly, is truly spectacular.
Some of the revolutionary changes introduced by EPFO include
- Downloading your detailed e-passbook online
- Online Transfer of your PF Account from one employer to another (which, in the past, was an extremely cumbersome and time-consuming affair)
- Withdrawal of your PF balance within a matter of days
- Online tracking of your claim status
- Direct credit of your money to your bank account, instead of waiting for a cheque
- Last, but not the least, is the introduction of Universal Account Number (UAN).
Accordingly, the earlier process of registration on the EPFO website and downloading your passbook has undergone some changes.
This revised procedure, to download your e-passbook, is detailed below.
Step 1 is to obtain your UAN and the Member ID from your employer; as also the mobile number you would have registered with EPFO.
Alternatively, you can know your UAN and its Status from the old Member ID (you can obtain this from your old PF Account Statement).
- Go to EPFO's Unified Portal : https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
- Under 'Important Links' click on the link 'Know your UAN Status'
- Fill in the details required and proceed as directed
Step 2 is to activate your UAN in case the same is not activated.
- Go to EPFO's Unified Portal : https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
- Under 'Important Links' click on the link 'Activate UAN'
- Fill in the details required and proceed as directed
Final Step 3 is to download your EPF passbook
- Go to EPFO's homepage : http://www.epfindia.com/site_en/
- Under 'Our Services' click on the link 'For Employees'
- Under 'Services' click on 'Member Passbook'
- Enter your UAN and Password
- Now you can View Passbook
Your EPF Passbook will be displayed on the right side.
To save as PDF, right click the mouse and click on 'Save As'.
Done! Downloading your EPF Passbook is as simple as that.
